The pallet industry is one of the largest consumers of the worlds wood supply: approximately 4.5 billion board feet of solid hardwood and 1.8 billion board feet of softwood were consumed in the United States alone for the production of pallets. Of all the hardwood logged in the United States nearly 50 percent is used for pallets.
