El Mirage Airplane Salvage
Located near the El Mirage Airfield in the Mojave
desert is Aviation Warehouse, an airplane salvage yard operated by Thomson
Aviation. Housing a variety of civilian and military aircraft in various
states of disrepair, the boneyard is a favorite location for Hollywood production
designers seeking aviation related props. Parts from the salvage yard have
shown up as in may films, including the fuselage of a C-123 used in the
making of the film Con-Air.
This photographic series documents some of the airplane parts currently
residing at the boneyard, still seeking reuse.
