Flint is a case study in the urban planning challenges of a depopulating city; it's on the forefront of a situation now effecting many of the former industrial centers of the United States. Flint is not alone, Indianapolis has over 8,000 abandoned houses and other former industrial cities report large numbers of abandoned structures, including Baltimore (15,000), Detroit (10,000), and Kansas City (5,000).
