New York Storefront Churches

New York Storefront Churches is the fourth of five series's that I have done on the typology of New York City. They have all been made into small artists books, "Thirtyfour Basketball Courts", A Few Empty Pools", "Some New York Handball Courts" and "Brooklyn Corrugated Iron Fences"are the other four. The work borrows from Ed Ruscha and Bernd and Hilla Becher but the use of color and the subject matter separate it from them. I try to find beauty in these subjects where others may see only a banal urban scruffiness.
